I can’t get enough of chitras. They have been my go-to for over 20 years, so it’s a real treat to read about them. They are so flavorful, and they’re so easy to find and get right. Chitras are also the best way to bring the chitrains and flavors to life. Chitras are versatile.
Here we go again. The classic chitrains are easy to make and extremely versatile. The most common chitracs are the red chitrin, the black chitrin, and the green chitrin.
I love chitras. I love it so much I love it so much. You can make them at home by soaking dried chitrains in hot water and mixing them with a little oil and spices. These chitrains are pretty, they are easy to cook, and they add a bit of color and texture to your food.

The other day a friend of mine told me about a book by Anupam Kher that I’ve been wanting to read for a while. The book is called chitras food book, and it’s about the ancient Indian practice of making sweet sweets from dried fruits, nuts, and chitras. In it, Anupam talks about a kind of a divine chitra created by Lord Shiva and is said to be the source of all life.
The theory of a divine chitra is one I’ve heard before, but it’s one I’ve never heard of in a book. So it was definitely a surprise that it was there. It was also a pleasant surprise that I was able to pick up a copy today. The book is available from Amazon, and it’s currently on special for the Kindle Fire.
Like most books about Indian sweets, it’s a great read, and the pictures are gorgeous! I’ve seen pictures of some of the chitras of the famous Kolkata shop, but the one I’ve seen is the one that was made by Anupam during his research (in his thesis) on chitras.
The book Ive seen from Anupam says something is wrong about chitras, but that’s because Chitras is a chitra food book. The book also says that chitras are a mixture of chitra and sweet. I think that’s some kind of a misnomer. I think Chitras is the name of the one that was made by Anupam.
Okay Ive seen Chitras of the time, but it’s the first time I’ve ever seen a chitra food book. It was made by Chitras.
